Do It For The Kids
The uMephi Baby Home is a safe house/ halfway house for babies that have been given up or abandoned by their mothers. The uMephi Home aims to encourage the mothers to bring their babies' to the home, rather than abandon them. The uMephi team feels that every child is a special gift from God and should be looked after.
Jackie Horen is the project manager who makes sure that everything runs smoothly and she is also the founder of the project. She used to run the uMephi Home out of her home but with the increase of babies, she had no option but to move to bigger premises.
The uMephi Home is currently situated on 115 Impala Road in Hutten Heights.
Hanna Van Vuuren is the housemother. She stays on the property, in a flat. She makes sure that every thing runs smoothly within the house.
There are also three hardworking staff members who cater to the babies' needs. There are also a few volunteers that go to the home to assist the housemother.
