Dannhauser SAPS host Miss Youth Desk

33 participants from various sub forums in the Dannhauser area recently took part in the Miss Youth Desk, Which the Dannhauser SAPS hosted.

The aim of the event was to encourage the youth to abstain from criminal activities and to involve themselves in the fight against crime.

Royal Priesthood Host Women's Day Celebration

Royal Priesthood ministries recently hosted a Women's day function where woman were spoiled to lucky draws, presents and bouquets flowers.

The host of the day was Meena Naidoo of Royal Prriesthood ministries and special guests for the day were Farhana Rehman, Acting mayor's wife, Nerita Bedasie, Miss Africa and Margi Koster speaker and opera singer at the women's day conference which was themed Pearls and Lace.

Ngogo farmer celebrates 100th Birthday

"City people are dirty, because their toilets are inside their homes," states James Edmund Napier who celebrated his 100th birthday in 12 August 2009.

Having lived in Ngogo all his life as farmer, Napier explained that he has only been to hospital three times and has spent five nights in a hospital in his entire life. Even though he is 100 years old, Napier is still healthy. His eyesight and hearing are in top form.

Swinfe flu confirmed

The H1N1 virus has hit Newcastle Express reported on a suspected case of the Flu strain but while it seems that the case proved to be a false alarm , other members of community have not been so lucky.

To date there have been two confirmed cases of the H1N1 Flu strain in Newcastle. The first case is that of a local high school student and the second case is that of a staff member of Acelor Mittal. Both patients have been put under quarantine and have been given the relevant medication to fight the H1N1 Virus.

Has Swine Flu hit Newcastle?

With H1N1, or swine Flu as it is more commonly headlines world wide for the past few months, it seems the dreaded disease might have made it's way to Newcastle during the course of the past week.

Information was recently passed onto the Newcastle Express that a nurse from the Private Hospital was recently admitted and put under quarantine after a trip to Dubai, when it was found that she had contracted the H1N1 virus.
