"Herbalist took our money" - Couple conned of R200 000

A retired couple residing in Madadeni has come forward to warn the public about a fraudster after losing over 2000,000-00 to her.

The incident occurred when the couple in question visited a woman calling herself a herbalist to seek medical help for diabetes. The woman charged the couple consultation and medicinal fees. She than told the duo that their home was built on gravesites and bad spirits plagued their residence. She asked them to immediately sell their house and re-purchase a new one that she would find for them. She insisted that they mention this to anyone else.

The month of "Spirituality"

Textile Industry grinds to a halt

Union workers in the textile industry, took to the streets on Tuesday, September 15 to voice their grievances against some factory owners.

Some of the complaints listed were poor working conditions, unfair treatment and low wage. Workers are unhappy with the conditions of the factories alleging that they work in ares with little to no ventilation. Dust is another major complaint , and they also allege that inhalation of these dust particles are causing health complications for them.

Eid Mubarak

Kings Hotel no more

The Kings Hotel has been a part of Newcastle's history since 1880, until recently when the building was demolished, and what was once a historical building, is now nothing more than a pile of rubble.

The Kings Hotel and it's adjacent house, were one of the most important landmarks in Newcastle, 8 with it being mentioned in various forms of literature that spanned over a century.
