Local achiever gives back

It is distinguishable from other doctoral degrees such as the Th.D and PH.D due to its primary emphasis being on the practice of ministry. Local man, Lionel David Harry received his Doctorate of ministry after qualifying from the Teamwork University, USA recently.

Horror accident on Hardwick

Onlookers watched with bated breath as the Jaws of Life was used to rescue a seriously injured man on Friday, 13 November when a Toyota conquest and a van collided.

The accident occurred at about 5pm. It is alleged that the driver of the conquest was at fault as he turned into the wrong lane and hit head on into the van.

School of hope

Situated in Madadeni Section Five, YWCA is a special school that addresses the needs of extra special children. Woodwork, garment making, fine arts, home economics and sports are just some of the subjects taught to these bright youngsters.

Every year an exhibition is held to showcase the talents of the boys to the community.

That Dam Festival

Chelmsford Dam will be hosting " That Dam Festival" from Friday, 27 November, to Sunday, 29 November.

The festival which will be a first ever for the Newcastle community promises to be an experience for families throughout Newcastle.

Dragon Boat Races will be held during the course of the weekend, as will as traditional Dragon dances that will be performed by members

"Lock him up"

Troubled teens are on the increase in Newcastle and dealing with them in no easy feat specially when the lives of these teens are riddled with drug abuse and criminal activities.

"Lock him up when you find him." were the words of a tired mother after being told that her sixteen year old son was a possible suspect in a house breaking case. "This is not the first time that he's done something like this so i am not surprised." added the disheartened mum.

Dagga plantation found

Bekezela Madonsella from Mbabane Farm in Dannhauser, was arrested on Wednesday, 28 October, after it was found that he was allegedly cultivating dagga.

According to Constable Nyembe, from the Dannhauser SAPS Communications Dept, the Dannhauser SAPS received information regarding the suspect and upon investigation, 675 dagga plants were found on the suspect's property and a further 3 bags of dagga was found under the suspect's bed.
