A cleaner look for Ward 9

Ward 9 in Osizwni received a mini facelift last Friday when about 50 FEDCON members embarked on a Clean up campaign to rid the area of garbage and promote cleaner living conditions.

The group hopes to make the campaign an on going event in the community with clean up operations taking place at least once a month.

Two nabbed in citizens arrest

Fed up with crime, the local community apprehended two men who robbed a take away worker of more than R10 000.

According to the owner, who did not want to be named, she had sent an employee to the bank to do the morning banking." My employee had just and a few minutes later, I heard screams. She ran back into the shop and told me she had been robbed," she said.

Arm action

Arm wrestling fanatic Reshal Singh of Glencoe SAPS, established the iron Arm Wrestling Club based in Glencoe in 2009. The club currently has 10 members and interest in this unusual sport is steadily building up as the public becomes more aware of it.

The idea to start a club came along when Reshal and fellow friends were invited to compete against top South African arm wrestlers at the Emerald Casino near Vereeniging in 2009.

Fedcon welcomes members

FEDCON welcomed more than 300 new members to its party at Indabanhle School in Osizweni this past week.

These members come mainly from ANC and IFP but have chosen FEDCON as their new political home, saying that they firmly believe in the leadership and constitution of the party.

New faces of authority

Several SAPs personnel were recently promoted in the Ladysmith Police Cluster. This means that residents will soon be seeing some new faces patrolling their streets.

They are Nomvula Buthelezi from besters: who is promoted to Captain at Nkandla SAPS, Hazei Dlamini from Elandslaagte who is promoted to a Captain at Ladysmith, Precious Nitshingila from Eldandslaagte SAPS who is promoted to senior Administration Clerk grade II

Bikers rally

A professional stunt rider was cherry on the top for everyone who attended the day night rally that took place in Glencoe recently.

Boanerges Bikers Club hosted thier first ever rally and it was heralded as a resounding success. Approximately 250 leather clad bikers converged at the Flence sports junction for an action packed day of riding,

Ingogo orphanage blaze: SAPS suspect arson

Although investigations into the fire that started at the Hope In Christ centre in Ingogo are still underway, it is believed that SAPS have not ruled out arson as the cause of the devastating fire that killed 11 people, including Sarah Holland, who ran the orphanage. According to Media reports, police are searching for a 12th body.

Meanwhile, at Holland's memorial service held at the Richview Civic Hall, mourners gathered to pay their last respects to a woman who has been described as an 'angel'.
