A cleaner look for Ward 9

Ward 9 in Osizwni received a mini facelift last Friday when about 50 FEDCON members embarked on a Clean up campaign to rid the area of garbage and promote cleaner living conditions.

The group hopes to make the campaign an on going event in the community with clean up operations taking place at least once a month.

Prisoners clean up...

Prisoners made their way to Trim Park on Thursday morning, 27 November, to clean up the litter that lay scattered across the park.

According to Captain Shooz Magudulela, the Newcastle Correctional Services along with the Newcastle SAPS brought the inmates to the park to help them become more involved with society and prepare them for their release dates. Capt Shooz further added that with the 16 Days of Activism underway, prisoners were given a chance to do their part.

Prisoners that took part in the clean up campaign are soon to be released into society, and will hopefully continue with their outlook on life .
